Cool Moon is looking for an enthusiastic, multi-talented, dependable and committed individual, with food-related management experience, to take the lead in managing front-of-house retail operations. We need someone to “set the tone” of the operation in terms of interface with the staff and our customers. This is a key position with growth potential.
Hours/Pay
• This is a salaried position, with amount dependant upon experience.
• 40-45 hours/week
• Afternoon/evening shift and willingness to fill in on early/late shifts when emergencies arise
• Weekend work is required
• Paid Vacation: Accrue two weeks annually (first available after first anniversary)

• Requires frequently accessing the walk-in freezer
• Requires a current Multnomah County Food Handlers Card
• Requires commitment to reliably transport oneself to/from our Pearl District location during day and late evening hours.

Areas of Responsibility
The Retail Manager’s responsibilities will center on ensuring that the retail aspect of the business runs effectively and efficiently. The Retail Manager will help establish and implement retail policies, manage retail costs, supervise retail service team, oversee preparation and sales of Cool Moon’s retail menu items, oversee money handling, track payroll, monitor retail product/supply inventories, and monitor displays and sanitation in the retail café. The Retail Manager must be a fair and open-minded person, able to think on his/her feet, and to respond well and appropriately to change. Being organized, thorough, and having the ability to problem solve effectively, are critical to this job.
Key Responsibilities:
• Retail Policy
Establishing, and overseeing implementation of retail policies and procedures
• Managing Costs
Working with shop owner to manage labor and food costs—maximizing sales, efficiency, and minimizing waste
• Quality Control
Monitoring product quality and inventory; maintaining attractive product displays
• Staff Moral
Working to find agreeable solutions to problems and addressing/evaluating staff suggestions
• Retail Staff Development
Working with storeowner to hire retail staff, develop training guidelines and procedures, oversee training of all new retail staff; conduct employee job reviews
• Customer Service
Establishing standards for friendly, helpful customer service, and ensuring/overseeing retail staff implementation of these practices
• Sanitation and Organization
Maintaining the highest standards for organization and cleanliness in the public and service areas of the retail shop
• Money Handling
Overseeing/enforcing money handling procedures and protocols; assisting in investigating cash discrepancies
• Payroll
Tracking and submitting retail payroll accurately and on-time as required by payroll accounting/system
• Inventory
Undertaking regular inventory of retail supplies; helping develop efficient ordering and restocking systems
• Communications:
With store owner/production manager
Working and communicating constructively and effectively with store-owner/production manager through daily store operations, and in weekly meetings
With retail staff team
The Retail Manager is the retail team leader and mentor. In this capacity, clear, direct communication of Cool Moon’s retail procedures is of paramount importance. The Retail Manager must be professional and tactful in manner, and work at all times to model and transmit Cool Moon’s customer service mission for/to retail team. The Retail manager must communicate this mission to staff through explanation when necessary, and through example at all times.
